“If a year was tucked inside of a clock, then Autumn would be the magic hour.”
– Victoria Erickson
Mabon is a celebration of the autumnal equinox. During Mabon, grain crops are gathered and it is a time to celebrate the fall harvest and give thanks for all that the earth has given. Those who celebrate Mabon often do so by collecting apples, grapes, or other seasonal harvest items. It is also common for rituals to be performed to restore balance and harmony, which is reflective of the day of equal light and dark. Any celebration would not be complete without a feast, and Mabon is a perfect time to highlight the fruits of the harvest. We began with grains and made cornbread as we gave thanks for the crops from our own gardens and invited creativity and compassion into our space.
We will be sharing more fall recipes as we get further into the season. What are your favorite fall flavors?
Your cornbread looks fantastic! It reminds me of when my grandmother used to make it and we had nice thick slices of warm bread to eat. Delicious! I love the story of mabon too! I never knew that word. You are so smart!

I like it warm with butter, but honey sounds very good too.
